Occupational Health and Safety Commitee
The Occupational Health and Safety Board has been organized in accordance with legislation, for the purposes listed below:
- To prepare an interior regulation for occupational health and safety suitable for the workplace, to submit this to the employer or to the representative of the employer, and to monitor the implementation of the regulation, to compile the results in a report and to determine the measures that need to be taken and to place these on the agenda of the board,
- To provide guidance to the employees of the workplace concerning issues of occupational health and safety,
- To evaluate the hazards and measures concerning occupational health and safety in the workplace, to determine the units that are to take the measures, and to notify the employer or the representative of the employer,
- To conduct the necessary research and investigation for every work accident which occurs in the workplace, to record the measures that must be taken and to report these to the employer or the representative of the employer,
- In the case of events not considered work accidents which have the potential to harm the workplace or work equipment, or an occupational disease, or a hazard involving occupational health and safety, to plan the relevant training, to prepare programs concerning these issues and rules, to submit these to the employer or to the representative of the employer, to monitor the implementations of these programs, and to provide feedback in case any deficiencies are noted,
- To plan security measures for work related to maintenance and repair that will be undertaken at the workplace, and to monitor the implementation of these measures,
- To monitor the adequacy of the measures taken at the workplace against fires, natural disasters, sabotage, and similar hazards, and to monitor the operation of the teams,
- To prepare an annual report concerning the occupational health and safety conditions of the workplace, to evaluate the work that was completed in that particular year, to evaluate and designate the items of next year’s agenda in accordance with the experience acquired, and to propose these to the employer,
- To hold emergency occupational health meetings to resolve requests concerning “the right to avoid work” as specified in Article 13 of Law number 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety,
- To conduct work with a view to develop a consistent and general prevention policy concerning the impact of factors such as work organization, working conditions, social relationships, and working environment in the workplace.
The Agenda of the Board
The agenda items for the board are determined by occupational safety experts, in consideration of requests that come from the board members and in line with issues that need to be discussed.
Additionally, an occupational health and safety email address has been designated. Our employees can use the email isg@ku.edu.tr to communicate their opinions, suggestions, and observations.
Depending on their priority, the issues that are communicated are evaluated by the occupational safety experts, and if there are health concerns, these are forwarded to the workplace physician for evaluation. Issues that are deemed suitable are included in the agenda of the board. Following the actions taken, the person who made the request is notified of any developments.
